Running a project
The four gates, your CDM responsibilities, and conduct on site.
- Before you break ground — the four gatesDon't break ground until all four are clear — HIC signed, cooling-off cleared (or waived), Milestone 1 funded, site set-up ready (CDM, RAMS, access).
- Communication and collaborationDay-to-day chat with the customer in the channel you both prefer (typically WhatsApp). Formal documentation through the platform — milestones, change orders, invoices.
- Daily conduct and customer propertyA tidy site, courteous team, honest updates. Customers trust you with their home; how you treat it matters.
- Materials handling on siteThe customer buys their own materials. Your role on materials is coordinating timing, taking receipt of deliveries, checking quantities and condition, and contacting suppliers if there's an issue.
- Reporting progress and challengesSubmit Milestone Notices through the platform with photos, certificates, and a dated invoice. Report challenges (defects, delays, surprises) the moment they appear.
- Site setup and safety standardsSet up and maintain a safe, compliant site. Protect the customer's property, keep the site tidy, leave it secure each day. Standards are part of the contract.
- You as the Principal Contractor under CDM 2015On most Beams projects you'll be the Principal Contractor under CDM 2015. That means a Construction Phase Plan, RAMS on site, and site H&S coordination throughout the build.
