Your first fortnight on Beams
A practical guide to your first two weeks. Profile setup, first leads, the rhythm of quoting and site visits, and where to ask if you're unsure.
The first fortnight on the network is set-up plus the first leads. The article walks through what to expect.
Week 1
Profile setup. Photo, gallery (six projects minimum), services, service area, payment methods, intro blurb. The article Building a profile that wins jobs covers the detail. The profile is your shop window — customers see it before they meet you, so spend the time.
Job preferences. Tell us what you want — locations, project types, minimum job value. The platform sends you leads matching the preferences; bad-fit leads don't appear.
Onboarding orientation. A short call with our build team to make sure you've got the platform set up right and know who to email about what.
First leads start arriving. Once you're live, leads start coming in. Don't expect a flood on day one — the matching takes a beat.
Week 2
First site visits and quotes. As leads come in, you arrange site visits, attend, and submit quotes within around a working day. The article How site visits work covers what to expect; How quoting works on Beams covers the platform side.
First selection. If a customer chooses you, the Home Improvement Contract (HIC) gets generated, the customer pre-funds, and you start preparing for the build. The article What happens when you're selected covers the next steps.
Things to do in the first fortnight
- Check your dashboard daily. Leads come in, customers ask questions, things move.
- Respond fast. Time-to-Quote is the headline behavioural metric. Faster response, more leads. The article Time-to-Quote and the re-quote queue covers it.
- Learn the platform. Spend an hour in the dashboard. Find where contracts live, where milestones get marked, where invoices go.
- Ask early. Email build@beamsrenovation.com when you're not sure. We'd rather help upfront than fix later.
Quick rules from day one
The article Quick rules — what every Beams builder should know is the single-page reference. Don't start work before HIC is signed and Milestone 1 is funded. All changes through the platform. Invoice by midday Thursday. You set your own prices. Up to three builders quote per job. 60% of wins aren't the cheapest.
