Your first fortnight on Beams

A practical guide to your first two weeks. Profile setup, first leads, the rhythm of quoting and site visits, and where to ask if you're unsure.

The first fortnight on the network is set-up plus the first leads. The article walks through what to expect.

Week 1

Profile setup. Photo, gallery (six projects minimum), services, service area, payment methods, intro blurb. The article Building a profile that wins jobs covers the detail. The profile is your shop window — customers see it before they meet you, so spend the time.

Job filters. Set your locations, project types, and job value so All Jobs shows you the work that fits. Your starting limits apply too — new builders begin in the New band (jobs up to £20,000) and graduate after 5 quotes and 1 win. The section Limits and job access covers it.

Onboarding orientation. A short call with our build team to make sure you've got the platform set up right and know who to email about what.

Start browsing. Once you're live, All Jobs is open to you. Take your time with the first few — choose jobs you'd genuinely want to win.

Week 2

First assessments and quotes. When you agree to quote a job, book the visit (or a remote assessment), attend, and submit your quote within the four-working-day deadline — sooner is better.

First selection. If a customer chooses you, the Home Improvement Contract (HIC) gets generated, the customer pre-funds, and you start preparing for the build. The article What happens when you're selected covers the next steps.

Things to do in the first fortnight

  • Check your dashboard daily. New jobs appear, customers ask questions, things move.
  • Quote fast. Time-to-Quote is the headline behavioural metric. Faster quoting, better visibility, more wins.
  • Learn the platform. Spend an hour in the dashboard. Find where contracts live, where milestones get marked, where invoices go.
  • Ask early. Email build@beamsrenovation.com when you're not sure. We'd rather help upfront than fix later.

Quick rules from day one

The article Quick rules — what every Beams builder should know is the single-page reference. Don't start work before HIC is signed and Milestone 1 is funded. All changes through the platform. Invoice by midday Thursday. You set your own prices. Up to three builders quote per job. 60% of wins aren't the cheapest.
