Limits and job access
How many jobs you can quote for, the value of jobs you can bid on, and how to change your limits.
How limits work on Beams
On the Beams marketplace you can see the live jobs in the network and choose which ones to quote for. To keep that fair and workable — for you and for customers — every builder has two limits.
Your quote cap is how many live quotes you can hold at once. Your value cap is the largest job you can view and bid on. Both are shown on your dashboard.
These are a starting point, not a verdict on your work. We set them from the activity we can see, we recalculate them regularly, and they grow as your track record builds. If a limit doesn't fit how you actually work, you can ask us to review it at any time.
Your quote cap
Your quote cap is the number of quotes you can have open at once. It's based on how much work you comfortably carry and how reliably you turn quotes around.
The point isn't to hold you back — it's to stop jobs stacking up faster than they can get the attention they deserve, which is better for your win rate and for the customer.
Your cap can be recalculated, so a busy run or a quieter spell feeds through on its own. If quote turnaround has slipped recently your cap may sit a little lower for a while; as turnaround comes back up, so does the cap. And if the real reason is capacity — or something on our side, like lead quality or missing information at handover — tell us and we'll factor it in.
Value caps and how you graduate
Your value cap is the largest job you can view and bid on. It sits in one of four bands:
Band | View and bid up to |
|---|---|
New | £20,000 |
Standard | £50,000 |
Established | £90,000 |
Major | No cap |
Everyone new starts in the New band. You graduate as soon as you've submitted 5 quotes and won at least 1 job — there's no hidden formula. From there, the band you're in reflects the size of jobs you typically quote.
One reassurance: you're never capped below the largest job you've already quoted on Beams. If you've priced a bigger project, your access reflects that automatically.
Changing your limits
Your limits aren't fixed, and they work both ways. Just let us know:
- You can take on more — tell us your current capacity and we'll review your caps with you.
- You've got a lot on — we can ease them back so jobs don't stall.
- A number looks wrong — flag it. If our data has missed something (recent work, a change in your team, or jobs done off-platform), we'll take it into account.
You can request a review any time from your dashboard, or reply to your Beams contact. We aim to come back to you within a few working days. Nothing here is set in stone — the limits are there to help, and we'd always rather adjust them than have them get in your way.
How limits grow, and how we reward good work
The marketplace is built to send more and better work to the builders who deliver. The things that lift your limits are the same ones that win customers over:
- Quote promptly and clearly.
- Turn up when you say you will.
- Do great work and keep customers in the loop.
- Earn good reviews — after each quote and completed project, customers are invited to review you.
Do those consistently and your caps rise, more and larger jobs open up, and you build toward the recognition levels — including the Top Builder mark for our most consistent builders, shown on your public profile. We also stay closest to newer builders and step back as you prove yourself, so the better your track record, the lighter the oversight.
