Cancelling your Beams membership
You can leave the Beams network at any time. Live projects continue under their existing contracts. Here's the process and what happens to your obligations.
You can leave the Beams network at any time. Live projects continue under their existing contracts. This article describes the process and what happens to your obligations.
Steps
- Tell us in writing. Email build@beamsrenovation.com or message your build advisor. Give us the reason if you're willing — we use the feedback.
- Live projects continue. Your active HICs (and Joinery Improvement Contract (JIC), if applicable) are between you and your customer. Cancelling Beams membership doesn't cancel those contracts. You're contractually obligated to complete them.
- No new leads. From the moment you tell us you're leaving, you stop receiving new project briefs. Open quotes you've already submitted but not yet won — we'll close them.
- Final settlements. Any milestone payments owed to you for completed work continue to flow. Any disputes outstanding are settled on the normal path.
- Warranty obligations continue. Your 12-month workmanship warranty on completed projects remains in force whether you're still in the network or not. Customers can still raise warranty claims; you're still required to respond.
- Profile is taken down. Once your live projects are at sign-off and warranty work is being handled cleanly, your profile is removed from the customer-facing side of the platform.
What you keep access to
- The platform, for the purposes of communicating with customers on live projects and handling warranty work.
- Your project records, change orders, payment history, and reviews.
- Your build advisor relationship for the wind-down period.
What you lose access to
- New leads.
- Open quote opportunities.
- Marketing channels (e.g. profile in the customer-facing directory).
If you change your mind
If you're considering rejoining within a short window (say, six months), tell us. We may be able to keep your profile and credentials live with reduced lead allocation rather than fully off-board you, which makes restart easier.
If you've already taken on new work outside Beams
That's fine — you're free to work outside the network. The point of the cancellation is just that we stop sending you new Beams projects.
What this means for you
Leaving Beams is a clean process. Live projects don't fall apart. Your warranty obligations continue. Your customer relationships remain intact. The article Removal — the process and what triggers it covers the different (and rarer) path of being removed from the network.
