The Top Builder annual badge
A year-long recognition modelled on Thumbtack's Top Pro. Earned across the year, awarded in January, displayed for the whole following year. Shareable artwork too.
Top Builder is a year-long recognition. Once earned for a given year (say 2026), the badge is awarded in January of the following year and held for the whole of that year — so a 2026 Top Builder displays the badge through 2027.
How it's earned
A builder earns the Top Builder badge for year Y if, by 31 December of year Y, all of the following are true:
- Reached Elite Builder Level in at least two quarters of the year.
- Holds the Verified by Beams mark for the full year — no lapse in insurance, licence, ID, or Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
- Profile complete — intro blurb, services, service area, at least 5 photos.
- Year-end Project Completion Net Promoter Score (NPS) ≥ 50.
- Year-end Average Site Visit Rating ≥ 9.0.
- At least 6 completed Beams projects in the year.
- At least 5 verified customer reviews in the year.
The project and review thresholds are set so the badge requires above-average sustained activity rather than rewarding short-term spikes.
Where it appears
The Top Builder ribbon is displayed prominently on your public builder profile, in any customer-facing builder list, and in the planner allocation tool. You also get shareable badge artwork you can use on your own website, vehicle livery, and social channels.
Why it exists
The level system is quarter-by-quarter. The Top Builder badge is the year-long equivalent. It rewards sustained excellence over time, in a way a quarterly system can't on its own.
What this means for you
Treat Top Builder as a longer-term target. Most builders won't get it in their first year — the criteria require consistent Elite performance across the year. Build towards it through the year-on-year work that earns it.
