Why acceptance matters

Customers are waiting on builders to accept invitations and arrange site visits. A low acceptance rate slows the customer down — they end up waiting for builders to respond, then having to be re-matched if too many builders decline.

The platform reads your acceptance pattern and adjusts your future invitations. Builders with high acceptance rates within their stated preferences see more invitations; builders with low acceptance rates see fewer.

How to keep your acceptance rate high

The lever is your job preferences, not your acceptance behaviour. If you're declining a lot, the issue is usually that the leads coming through don't fit your business — which means the preferences need adjusting.

  • Postcodes — only the ones you'll travel to.
  • Project types — only the ones you take on.
  • Minimum job value — set realistically.
  • Capacity — contact the Beams team when you don't have capacity, so we can pause your invitations rather than have you decline a wave in a row.

If your preferences are accurate, most invitations will be fits, and accepting them is straightforward.

When to decline

Some invitations within your preferences are still right to decline — for example, a specific project where the customer's expectations don't match your availability, or where there's a personality mismatch you've spotted in the brief.

Always tell us why you're declining (capacity, location, scope). The reason helps us match you better in future and keeps your acceptance rate clean even when you decline.

If you're at capacity for a few weeks, contact the Beams team and we'll pause your lead allocation rather than have you decline a wave of invitations. Pausing isn't a self-serve action in the product yet — message your build team contact and we'll handle it from our side.
