How to approve milestones and release builder payments

Milestone approvals keep your build moving and your payments secure.

Your builder marks each stage as complete, and you review the work in your dashboard before any payment is released.

Why it matters

Beams holds your construction funds safely until you approve each stage. You stay in control, and builders are paid promptly once you’re happy with the work. It keeps everything transparent, fair, and predictable.

How it works

1. Builder requests payment

When a milestone is complete, your builder uploads a short summary and requests payment. You’ll get an email notification and see the update in your dashboard under ‘Payments’.

2. Review the milestone

Open the milestone to check:

  • Completion date
  • Summary of what’s been done
  • Photos (if added)
  • Any supporting documents

3. Approve or reject

If the work looks right, click Approve & release. Beams releases the payment to your builder straight away.

If something feels off, select Reject milestone and add a short note. Your message goes directly to the builder so they can sort it out.

4. Automatic approval

If you don’t take action within seven days, the milestone will be auto-approved and payment released. This keeps projects moving while still giving you time to check the work.

What happens next

Once all milestones are approved and the final payment is released, your builder signs off your project. Your one-year Beams warranty begins once you approve the Practical Completion milestone.

Approving milestones through Beams keeps your renovation simple, transparent, and in your control — protecting your money and rewarding great work.
