Sustainability at Beams
At Beams we’re committed to the highest standards when it comes to sustainability in our procurement, manufacturing and renovating processes.
We vet our suppliers, and our suppliers’ suppliers to make sure our tiles use recycled materials and our cabinetry is made from sustainable woods. We also ensure that 95% of our waste is recycled and offer a free home energy assessment so that your home uses less energy in its heating and cooling and creates less emissions in the process.
Procurement
We carefully vet all our suppliers’ environmental credentials.
Our tile companies put recycled content into their products and have ethical manufacturing processes. We also have a Beams selection that has higher recycled content and better environmental credentials.
We ensure our products are manufactured in the UK and choose materials that can be recycled easily. We might, for example, use brass because it’s a strong, sustainable material and the off-cuts can be collected, melted down and re-used, meaning minimum waste is created - they also add a touch of class to your kitchen.
Manufacturing
Our commitment to quality means that our products are built for the long-term. By creating durable, long-lasting cabinetry, tiles, and fixtures, we reduce the need for frequent replacements, which in turn reduces waste and conserves resources. If a kitchen lasts twice as long it will have half the amount of emissions.
We also manufacture locally so that our products don’t need to travel as far to your home, and create less emissions in their journey as a result.
Renovating
Our renovation process uses local contractors from your area which reduces the emissions created in their travel to your home.
We offer energy reduction products, including our heat recovery trays that capture and reuse up to 50% of the heat that would otherwise be lost from showers and baths, and low and dual flush toilets that use less water than standard toilets.
We also follow sustainable waste removal processes meaning that 95% of waste is recycled and reused.
Home Energy Assessment
We’ve partnered with trusted home energy assessment providers who will identify ways to improve the energy efficiency of your home. After the assessment, we’ll work with you to determine which recommendations you’d like to add to the scope of your renovation. Beams offers this service free of charge.
